PE at Wootton Primary School

At Wootton Primary School we recognise the importance of regular exercise for children’s physical and mental health. We aim to develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, athletics and outdoor adventure activities. Moreover, we empower the children to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives.

From Key Stage One onwards, PE is delivered as 2 lessons per week, normally one outdoor and one indoor lesson. Children will experience a variety of sports through these lessons, being taught a range of skills across the curriculum to reach age related expectations.  We hope to give children the confidence to compete against their peers, to build character and to help embed values such as fairness and respect.
